New release “Canto y Semilla”

In "Canto y semilla", Marta embraces roots music and songwriting. "In this work, artisan songs flourish: stories and melodies of when there was only land and a home carved in the silence of the fields. Splinters, dust of lights and shadows, silver memories and tanned roads: they all swirl together in my songs".

For this album, she has been inspired by landscapes from here and from other latitudes, thus presenting a mix of musical influences. Most of them are influenced by Iberian, Canarian and Latin American music. It should also be noted that, in two of the songs, she has had the collaboration of a couple of international artists: the Argentinian Nadia Szachniuk (www.nadiaszachniuk.com) and Alessio Arena (www.alessioarena.com), an Italian based in Spain.

Marta Solis brings in her voice a melting pot in which her origins and learning merge. On the one hand, by having a strong Iberian root, she is bound to the regions of Castile and Extremadura. Its ancient songs are her internal songs. On the other hand, Latin America and its irresistible cadences, fused in the history of the Islands, are increasingly present in her compositions, serving as inspiration. The meticulous music production and arrangements' work has been carried out by Mon Cabrera. He has carefully prepared the earth and chosen the best seeds, carefully interweaving magic and sound.

Marta Solís has received several awards as a composer and performer, both national and international. Winner of Festival de Benidorm (2002), winner of Billboard Song Contest in the «Latin» category (2004), winner of SGAE's composition workshop (2005), awarded in Abril para Vivir (2016) and winner in Cantando a la Rivera de Gata (2019)—. She has released three albums (LPs): “Promesa” (2001), “Sin límites” (2013) and “Nido” (2017); she has also recorded an EP during a live performance, “La llama en la distancia se apaga” (2018). Since 2013, she includes Mon Cabrera, arranger and guitar player of the Canary music scene, in almost all of her projects. Together with him and other professionals who accompany her, they have grown as a team, traveling through the Canary Islands, the rest of Spain, Morocco, Colombia and Finland.

The work of "Canto y semilla" is complemented with the development of a visual work by 2020 award-winner of The Journey, a national photography award.

I’m lucky that Elena Sol’s gaze embraces these songs. "Tierras negras" is a research work and an exhibition arising from the creative process among us. "

Elena Sol (www.elenasol.com) produces, in her day to day life, a personal work which is totally in line with the spirit of this album, since the central theme of her photography reflects on the difficult connection between nature and the human being in the current civilization. For special occasions and charming places, there is available this physical exhibition, in which Elena develops her particular vision, flowing on the border between the poetic and the everyday life.

This collection includes images from her archive and some of her latest projects, recontextualized with photographs made for this musical work.
